TrueForest/CENP tree planting initiative
The Rio Abiseo National Park, located on the eastern side of the tropical Andes in Peru, is a rare example of a World Heritage site that has been recognized for both its cultural and natural significance.
Covering an area of 274,520 hectares, the park is home to various types of forests and extraordinary archaeological sites that span over eight millennia of history.
The park’s striking scenic beauty is enhanced by unique, steep canyons covered in jungle and the turbulent river from which it takes its name.
The park is the habitat of several wildlife species, including spectacled bears, jaguars, and the elusive yellow-tailed woolly monkey, which was previously thought to be extinct and is only found in this area.
Sierra Organic is a corporate partner of the Rio Abiseo Park and the Peruvian National Parks service. Together, our aim is to ensure a bright future for the Rio Abiseo National Park.
Partnership with CENP
Via our point of sale tree planting initiave we will team up with CENP in order to plant trees within the buffer zone of the park to
We.plant trees in the conservation concession run CENP which is situated within the buffer area directly next to the Rio Abiseo National Park.
The concession has an area of 2077 hectares making it a small concession.
However, it directly borders the national park and therefore acts as a wildlife corridor and extension of the park itself with over 90% virgin or primary rainforest.
